Mac Miller Dead Aged 26

It has been reported that the renowned US rapper Mac Miller, has been found dead at his home, at the age of just 26. The musician, who has been very open about his addiction to substances in the past, is said to have died from an overdose in California where he lived. Mac Miller, whose real name was Malcolm James McCormick, hit the charts back in 2011 with his first album. A spokesperson for the LA County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmed the news that the artist had died in his Studio City home.

It has been reported that Miller went into cardiac arrest after he overdosed on drugs at his home, and despite paramedics trying to revive him, he was pronounced dead around noon, local time. His family have paid tribute to him, calling him a bright light in the world, and thanked his loyal fans for their support and prayers. The world of music has been paying tribute to Miller, with the likes of Shawn Mendes and J. Cole posting their condolences on social media. The rapper, who previously dated the pop star Ariana Grande, had spoken out about his problems with drugs and alcohol and cited the pressure of fame as the cause of his mental health and addiction issues.

According to a source, Miller had battled substance abuse for many years and was arrested in Los Angeles last year for drinking under the influence of alcohol and being involved in a hit and run incident. Miller was noted for his ability to both, produce rap and also play instruments, after he began studying the piano at six years old, before learning the drums, bass and even the keyboard. He was undoubtedly considered a leading light in the rap world and applauded for speaking out about his difficulties with mental illness.
